As the city of Vantaa turns 50, the anniversary year was kicked off with a spectacular opening event in front of the city hall. The centerpiece of the evening was a projection work called Vantaa Story , which brought the facade of the city hall to life through light, movement and history.

The design of the work was by Max Lapinsuo-Sylwén , and its content was curated in collaboration with the City of Vantaa. The background work utilized extensive historical material provided by historian Eeva Kotioja and cultural producer Ulla Viskari-Perttu . The historical photographs used in the work come from the archives of the Vantaa City Museum .

The projection was carried out on the facade of Vantaa City Hall on Asematie , which served as a large-scale projection surface for the work. The architecture and proportions of the building were utilized as part of the visual storytelling.

The work combined historical photographs, video animation, lighting and music into a unified audiovisual experience. The whole took viewers through Vantaa's history and celebrated the city's development into the international and growing city it is today.

Capital AV was responsible for the projection technology of the work, which was built for an outdoor event in front of the City Hall. The end result was an impressive celebratory work that served as the visual centerpiece of the opening event of Vantaa's 50th anniversary.
