Helsinki Arts Night 2023 brought a large outdoor event to Kansalaistori and the Oodi area, combining film art, live music and urban space. Capital AV implemented the technical set-up for the event, the centrepiece of which was a large LED screen built under the Oodi canopy. The screen showed Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen's participatory film project and the evening's outdoor screening.
The Night of the Arts is one of Helsinki's most famous city events, when the city fills with performances, installations and cultural experiences. In 2023, a spectacular outdoor event was organized at Kansalaistori, the centerpiece of which was a combination of film art and live music.
Capital AV was responsible for the technical implementation of the event. An LED screen as large as the space's hanging capacity allowed was built under the canopy of Oodi's main entrance, creating a spectacular open-air cinema in the middle of Kansalaistori.
The evening's highlight was a participatory film project by artists Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen , in which city residents were able to design the final scenes of fictional disaster films for Kansalaistori. The artists collected scripts through an open call, and selected scenes were filmed during the summer with the help of about a hundred volunteer actors.
The final result of the work was shown on a large LED screen in Kansalaistori with live accompaniment from the band Cleaning Women , creating a unique performance experience combining film and music.
The evening's program culminated in an open-air screening of the classic disaster comedy Airplane! (1980) , which drew a large audience to Kansalaistori.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Helsinki Magic Foundation . Thank you for your trust!
