An entire amusement park in a new light

Capital AV delivered the technical production for Linnanmäki’s Carnival of Light. Working closely with Capital Creative and the Linnanmäki team, we brought a park-wide lighting experience to life, revealing familiar rides, green spaces and architecture in a new way.

The installation combined 707 controlled lighting fixtures, projections, pixel tubes and an extensive control network. Distinct atmospheres, programmed light shows and small details formed a cohesive experience that accompanied visitors throughout the park.

Miraculum — celebrating an iconic roller coaster

A centrepiece of the production was Miraculum, created to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Linnanmäki’s legendary wooden roller coaster, Vuoristorata. Projection mapping from four high-output projectors, lighting installed within the wooden framework and a custom-composed soundtrack brought the iconic ride to life.

The roller coaster’s open wooden structure presented an unusual technical challenge. Aligning the projections and precisely coordinating imagery, lighting and music required careful advance planning and on-site refinement. Presented every thirty minutes, the show paid tribute to the ride and the generations of memories created aboard it.

From plans to a working production

A detailed 3D model of the park supported a planning process spanning approximately twelve months. Lighting and programming were previsualised before installation, helping the team adapt the creative vision to the demanding amusement park environment.

Capital AV translated those plans into a working technical system. A crew of more than twenty professionals installed the lighting fixtures, projectors and pixel tubes, and built the extensive control network in just nine days. System testing and final on-site programming adjustments ensured that the production worked as intended.
