The Linnanmäki Valokarnevaali is the amusement park's traditional closing event of the amusement season, which is organized during the autumn holidays in Southern Finland. Capital AV acts as the event's technical partner in the lighting implementation. During the two-week construction period, hundreds of lights will be installed in the amusement park area, transforming the park's appearance into a spectacular world of light and highlighting its architecture, equipment and walkways.
The Linnanmäki Valokarnevaali is one of the most anticipated public events of the autumn in Helsinki. The event culminates the amusement park's fun season, when the entire park is spectacularly illuminated and various light figures and visual elements appear throughout the area.
Capital AV is the technical lighting partner for the event. During the two-week construction period, an extensive lighting system will be installed in the amusement park area in cooperation with Linnanmäki's technical team. The implementation of the event requires careful planning and coordination, as the amusement park environment is full of equipment, structures and walkways that must be taken into account in lighting design and safety.
A total of 551 lights were installed throughout the park during Valokarnevaali, highlighting the park's buildings, equipment, trees and pathways. The lights highlight the park's structures, colours and shapes, transforming familiar areas into completely new experiences in the evening.
The lighting design took into account the size, location and environment of the objects to be illuminated. More powerful floodlights were aimed at high surfaces and buildings, while luminaires with wide-angle lenses were placed closer to the objects to create more even lighting for smaller elements.
The design was carried out by Rölli Ridanpää (Parvi Collective) , whose visual concept was technically implemented in a way that was adapted to the diverse environment of the amusement park. The project also paid special attention to safety, as all installations in an amusement park environment must be carried out in accordance with strict safety instructions.
The changeable and often unpredictable weather of Finnish autumn brings its own additional challenges to the construction of the event. However, careful advance planning and close cooperation with the amusement park staff ensure that the park wakes up to the light on schedule.
Valokarnevaali Vhas become one of the highlights of the autumn holiday season in Helsinki – and at the same time, one of the most anticipated projects of the year for Capital AV's technical staff.
